Senator Subramanyam makes closing argument to seniors at roundtable on Social Security and Medicare
““I will stand up for the tens of thousands of seniors, veterans, and federal civil servants who live in this district”
Ashburn, VA - Today, Senator Suhas Subramanyam made his closing economic argument to a group of seniors at a community roundtable co-hosted by the National Committee to Protect Social Security and Medicare (NCPSSM), which has endorsed his campaign.
At the roundtable, Senator Subramanyam discussed with seniors and NCPSSM Members how Project 2025 would cut funding for veterans and seniors and decimate the local economy.
Suhas’s opponent Mike Clancy is a longtime self-proclaimed member and contributor to the Heritage Foundation, which wrote Project 2025. It details a policy plan to cut benefits for veterans and seniors, as well as reintroduce Schedule F, which would remove merit system hiring and firing protections from career civil servants.
Alternatively, Senator Subramanyam described his vision to protect all members of the community.
Senator Subramanyam said, “We must protect programs like Medicare, Social Security, and Veterans benefits in particular. These programs are vital to so many constituents in our district, and Project 2025 would allow cuts to these critical programs. And I will continue to stand up for our local economy, which includes thousands of federal civil servants and federal contractors.”
“I will stand up for the tens of thousands of seniors, veterans, and federal civil servants who live in this district, and I will continue to be their champion in Congress just as I was in the Virginia General Assembly,” Senator Subramanyam continued.
When endorsing him, former VA-10 Representative Barbara Comstock said, “Suhas Subramanyam is a pragmatic, effective lawmaker who has a track record of working in a bipartisan way to get real results for our businesses and working families in the 10th District. We must reject the divisive politics of MAGA extremism and Project 2025, which undermine our democracy, federal civil servants, and women in our community.”
