State Senator Suhas Subramanyam highlights bipartisanship during WJLA VA-10 candidate debate

Ashburn, VA – Today, during the live WJLA VA-10 candidate debate, State Senator Suhas Subramanyam pointed to his success in working across the aisle in the State Legislature, saying he would continue to legislate with a bipartisan approach in Congress. Subramanyam highlighted his record of lowering costs, providing tax relief, and supporting safe communities.

“I am proud of my record working across the aisle to deliver real results on these important issues,” said Senator Subramanyam. “Whether it’s preventing toll hikes, refunding customers for overcharges on their electric bills, lowering prescription drug prices, or providing tax relief for Virginia families, I will continue to work in a bipartisan way for our communities.”

Senator Subramanyam highlighted the many bills he championed, like HB 1832 which prevented a 40% toll increase on the Dulles Greenway, with bipartisan support.

Throughout the debate, Senator Subramanyam shared his plan to tackle other tough issues like reproductive freedom and affordability in Congress. Senator Subramanyam co-founded the Commonwealth Caucus in the state legislature, which focused on bringing Republicans and Democrats together to create bipartisan solutions.

“In the end we have to address all these issues in a bipartisan way, Democrats and Republicans working together, uniting us and not dividing us like my opponent,” said Senator Subramanyam.

Senator Subramanyam also highlighted his public service as a First Responder, working directly with law enforcement as a Firefighter/EMT. Senator Subramanyam and his wife Miranda are raising their two daughters in the 10th congressional district, and these issues are personal to Suhas and his family.

Senator Subramanyam’s opponent spent much of the debate using extremist rhetoric and attempting to distract the conversation away from Senator Subramanyam’s bipartisan legislative wins.

The debate was televised live and on WJLA’s website from 7:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 26.
