Virginia Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell Endorses Suhas Subramanyam for Congress
Surovell Praises Subramanyam's Work to End Gun Violence and Protect Democracy
Ashburn, VA – Today, Senator Suhas Subramanyam, Obama White House Alumnus and Candidate for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District (VA-10), announced the endorsement of Virginia Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell (SD-34). Surovell’s endorsement comes just one day before early voting starts for the Virginia primaries, and days after Subramanyam launched his first TV ad and announced the endorsement of Senator Russet Perry (SD-31).
“I’m proud to endorse Senator Suhas Subramanyam for Congress in VA-10,” said Majority Leader Surovell. “As the senior Senator from Loudoun, he has been a strong voice in the legislature for local issues across the district since he was first elected by Loudoun voters in 2019, and he is our best chance of keeping the seat blue. He is a critical voice for Democratic priorities of protecting women's reproductive healthcare rights, preventing gun violence, lowering the cost of healthcare, and protecting our democracy. Suhas lives in Loudoun, is the best candidate to replace my friend Jennifer Wexton, and I am proud to support him.”
Majority Leader Surovell is known for his dedication to progressive reforms and hands-on approach to legislating. Surovell has served in the Senate of Virginia since 2015 and the House of Delegates from 2009-2015.
Majority Leader Surovell is the latest in several key endorsements for Senator Subramanyam, including Senator Russet Perry (SD-31), Senator L. Louise Lucas (SD-18), Loudoun County Supervisor Laura Tekrony, and Loudoun County School Board Chair Melinda Mansfield. Senator Subramnyam is also supported by Asian American Action Fund and Indian American Impact Fund.

Senator Suhas Subramanyam has dedicated his life to public service as a State Senator, Obama White House advisor, Capitol Hill staffer, and as a Loudoun volunteer firefighter/EMT. In Richmond, he has worked across the aisle to pass gun violence prevention bills, protect democracy, and defend abortion rights. Senator Subramanyam is best positioned to keep VA-10 in Democratic hands because he represents more VA-10 constituents than any of the 16 primary election candidates, and he has consistently outperformed the Democratic ticket and delivered for his constituents. Suhas resides in Ashburn, Virginia (in VA-10) with his wife, Miranda, and their two daughters.
