Ashburn, VA – Today, Senator Suhas Subramanyam adjourned the Virginia Senate in honor of Trevor Brown, a volunteer firefighter killed in an explosion over the weekend. 13 individuals were also injured in the explosion, 4 of whom were in the hospital as of Saturday night. Brown was a husband and the father of 3 children. He had been a volunteer firefighter since 2016.
Sen. Subramanyam, a volunteer EMT and certified firefighter in Loudoun County, issued the following statement:
I am devastated by the tragic loss of Firefighter Brown. My thoughts are with Trevor Brown’s family during this time. As someone who has volunteered in Loudoun as a firefighter and EMT, I know this is the risk taken by first responders every shift.
I thank the community members who have organized together to provide support for Brown and the injured firefighters, and I encourage all community members to donate to the Loudoun First Responders Foundation to help at this time.
Today I’ll be adjourning the Senate in Trevor Brown’s honor. He will be sorely missed, but his courage will never be forgotten and his memory will live on forever.
Donations are being accepted by the Loudoun First Responders Foundation (LFRF) at www.LoudounFRF.org. To designate your donation specifically to the family of Firefighter Trevor Brown, please add "Brown Family" in the memo line. If not specified, your donations will benefit injured firefighters.

Senator Suhas Subramanyam has dedicated his life to public service as a State Senator, Obama White House advisor, Capitol Hill staffer, and as a Loudoun volunteer firefighter/EMT. In Richmond, he has worked across the aisle to pass gun violence prevention bills, protect democracy, and defend abortion rights. Senator Subramanyam is best positioned to keep VA-10 in Democratic hands because he represents more VA-10 constituents than any of the 16 primary election candidates, and he has consistently outperformed the Democratic ticket and delivered for his constituents. Suhas resides in Ashburn, Virginia (in VA-10) with his wife, Miranda, and their two daughters.
